Celebrating Maggie with Family

By , May 29, 2012 8:00 am

Maggie got to celebrate her birthday three times: once with my parents, once with us, and once with Scott’s family. And each time she was deathly afraid of the Happy Birthday Song.

Maggie is 1

Well Maggie has been one for two weeks, and she’s still growing like a weed. She’s tapered off a bit from her 90% to 75% for height and 40% for weight, but she’s still tall.

Maggie’s birthday was Friday, May 11. Scott was able to take some time off from work so we could celebrate together. We celebrated with birthday donuts, presents, painting pottery, playing at the mall, and chik fil a for dinner.

Easter

By , April 11, 2012 12:00 pm

Over the Easter weekend, my parents, my youngest brothers, and my sister, her husband, and their daughter came in. My brother and his wife who also live up here joined us. Elise loves when all her family comes to see her. She didn’t even mind loaning out her room to Uncle Andrew and Uncle Ben. She probably wishes she could sleep on an air mattress in mom and dad’s room every night.

On Saturday, we took the girls to the Easter Eggsperience at Irving Bible Church. Elise did everything: petting zoo, egg hunt, face painting, carnival games, and bounce houses. Maggie participated in the egg hunt with some help from her daddy. The girls had a good time, so we will be taking them back next year.

Here are some pictures of all the fun they had over the weekend.

Nine months

How did we already get here? Only three short months until we have a one year old. Someone asked me to compare Elise and Maggie at 9 months, and I am happy to oblige. I have Elise’s 10 month stats, but there is still a difference.

Elise – 4/1/2009, 10 months                                          Maggie – 2/10/2012, 9 months

Height – 26 1/2 inches, 20%                                          Height – 29 inches, 90%

Weight – 14 lbs, Below 5 %                                             Weight – 19.5 lbs,  60%

It may only look like a couple inches and pounds, but it’s the difference between Elise wearing 3-6 months clothes and Maggie being an inch away from outgrowing 12 month clothes. Maggie is super tall; she’s grown 10 inches and gained 12 pounds since birth. Since Elise came home at 6 1/2 months, she’s gained 14 pounds; their growth rates are a little different:)

And Maggie wants to do everything her sister does: she’s pulling up, cruising, and feeding herself. She’s even eating her crib while she’s working on some new teeth, and she’s working on shaking her head no, waving, and saying mama and dada. We are afraid she may run before she walks to catch Elise; they really enjoy each other. I have the pictures to prove it.

Exploring

Since learning to crawl, Maggie wants to get into everything and she’s discovered her way around the downstairs. Here is an example of her exploring. :)

Do you see me mom?

Hmmm...crinkly paper

Not exactly what she planned

Maggie is 6 months

By , November 14, 2011 12:30 pm

We find it hard to believe that it has already been 6 months since Maggie was born, and she is doing everything. Maggie eats solid food like a champ; she has loved everything she has tried. She rolls all over the place, is rocking on her hands and knees, and we often find her sitting up in her bed. It’s fun to have seen everything progress from day one. But now that Maggie has reach 6 months, Scott and I are in familiar territory; this is the staged we started in with Elise. It’s nice to be getting the stages we have some knowledge about. Hopefully, we won’t feel so clueless anymore, but I’m sure it’s possible. So far the new thing is keeping up with a fast growing baby. Maggie had her 6 month check up, and she is 17 pounds (70%) and 27 inches (90%) and in 6-12 month and 9 month clothes – next stop 12 month clothing:)

4 and 5 month old Maggie

Sweet little Maggie is getting her life documented; I’m just not getting to share it with everyone as quickly as I did with the first. I have no idea why though it probably has something to do with having a big sister and a mom taking a grad class.

Maggie had her 4 month check up a month ago, and she was already 14.15 pounds and 25 and 1/4 inches. I’m sure she had added another pound and inch since then. She’s been perfect her roll which has translated to her now sleeping on her stomach. We went from screaming because we accidentally rolled over to screaming because we are not rolled over, who knew? She has also started scooting mostly on her face as she uses her arms to pull her over. I predicted she might be crawling in another month which would be crazy. At least, Elise will be able to help me keep track of her.

One of my favorite things is how fascinated Maggie is by Elise. She watches everything Elise does and lights up when she sees her; it’s pretty cute. Here a few of my Maggie favorites:

Two Months

By , August 6, 2011 8:00 am

Another thing I missed posting in July was Maggie’s two month update; that girl really knows how to grow. She was 23 and 1/4 inches and 12 pounds 2.5 ounces at her two month check up. I’m pretty sure she’s closer to 14 pounds now, but my perspective is thrown off. I am dressing Maggie in Elise’s 3-6 month and 6 month hand me downs that Elise wore when she was 12-15 months — so different. Anyway, here’s some video and pictures of our sweet Maggie.

Hanging Out at Home

By , May 19, 2011 5:08 pm

Maggie is already a week old – how did that happen? I’m enjoying my one on one time with her while Elise finishes up this last month at school. I am also enjoying re-discovering all the things I had to give up during pregnancy: coffee, wine, cold deli meat, and sleeping on my back. It’s so nice to sleep on my back (and not have 30 pounds protruding from my abdomen and torso) and make a sandwich without worrying whether I got the turkey hot enough in the microwave to kill listeria. It’s the little things.
