Walking

Elise has been walking up a storm lately. Here she is going back and forth across our living room:

McClellan Town Gets A Facelift

By , May 26, 2009 7:53 pm

Annie and I decided that McClellan Town was looking a little tired so I took a stab at a new look. Of course, I’m a desperate wannabe when it comes to web design, so I just picked out a new WordPress theme and made a few tweaks to it. More to come … at some point … probably.

I hope you like it.

Memorial Day Weekend

By , May 25, 2009 2:33 pm

Well, we packed up Friday night and made a trip to Houston to my parents’ house. Elise always has lots of people to play with. This time she got to try out her 20-year old uncles’ climber with slide from when they were kids, take a dip in the pool, and bang on the window several times at the dogs. She had fun. :)

Isla and Elise

By , May 20, 2009 9:03 pm

Our friend Haley and her daughter Isla were in town from Scotland. We got Elise and Isla together on Saturday, May 9 (at my house, first five photos) and Saturday, May 16 (at Haley’s mom’s house) for play dates. They are not fully aware of each other, but they did have some interaction. They are about 2 and a half months apart and both super cute.

Cacophony

Yes, Elise is cute and smart and more fun than a barrell full of monkeys. But all you parents out there know that having a cute little kiddo isn’t all fun and games. Here’s documentation of the dramatic fits Elise has been concocting lately:

Baby Steps

Believe it or not, the little girl has started taking a few steps at a time. Of course, Elise didn’t make it easy on us when we tried to capture it on video, but eventually we got some video evidence of her newfound upright mobility. See for yourself (if you have five minutes to spare):

Sick Days

By , May 13, 2009 9:30 pm

So we are about two weeks behind here in McClellan Town. Last week, Elise stayed home sick for three days which gave her plenty of time to hang out with Shiner and catch up on her reading. (It was her first ear infection.)

Preaching

By , May 7, 2009 8:16 pm

On Sunday, May 3, a friend of ours preached at his church in Fresno, California. Gary, the friend, had contacted Scott ahead of time to ask if he could share some of our adoption story. Below is the link to Gary’s blog post which includes a link to the Sunday’s sermon. It’s pretty cool that when you follow God other people want to tell about it. Have a listen if you get a chance.

The Climber

Yesterday we found out that Elise is a much better climber than we thought. Maybe someone will buy her a helmet for her birthday …

Video: Box and Bouncing

By , May 1, 2009 9:33 pm

As usual, I’m behind on editing and posting videos. In our latest installment, Elise explores a big cardboard box and then she bounces around the living room on Annie’s back.

The first part of the video, the box part, is pretty low key. Why did we have a huge cardboard box in our living room? Our dog ate our old patio furniture, and our new patio furniture was delivered in those big boxes.

In the second part of the video, you can tell Elise is enjoying her ride on Annie’s back because she’s laughing maniacally. It doesn’t take much to make that kid giggle.

There are a few more videos to come, so stay tuned!
