Maggie is 6 months

We find it hard to believe that it has already been 6 months since Maggie was born, and she is doing everything. Maggie eats solid food like a champ; she has loved everything she has tried. She rolls all over the place, is rocking on her hands and knees, and we often find her sitting up in her bed. It’s fun to have seen everything progress from day one. But now that Maggie has reach 6 months, Scott and I are in familiar territory; this is the staged we started in with Elise. It’s nice to be getting the stages we have some knowledge about. Hopefully, we won’t feel so clueless anymore, but I’m sure it’s possible. So far the new thing is keeping up with a fast growing baby. Maggie had her 6 month check up, and she is 17 pounds (70%) and 27 inches (90%) and in 6-12 month and 9 month clothes – next stop 12 month clothing:)

Our Little Performer

So, you should know by now that Elise loves to be the center of attention and demands attention. But that’s why we love her. She loves to laugh and play and have a good time and dance and sing, too.

Two Months

Another thing I missed posting in July was Maggie’s two month update; that girl really knows how to grow. She was 23 and 1/4 inches and 12 pounds 2.5 ounces at her two month check up. I’m pretty sure she’s closer to 14 pounds now, but my perspective is thrown off. I am dressing Maggie in Elise’s 3-6 month and 6 month hand me downs that Elise wore when she was 12-15 months — so different. Anyway, here’s some video and pictures of our sweet Maggie.

Wedding Reception

In the last weekend in June, we attended a good friend’s wedding. Elise’s favorite part was the dancing. She basically ran around in circles for what seemed like hours; she loved it. She has some interesting dance moves, especially in the last clip. Enjoy.

Father’s Day

So I got a little behind on my blogging, I guess that’s going to happen while I’m juggling two kids…

Scott celebrated his first Father’s Day as a father of two by attending Elise’s first ballet recital, and we did get to enjoy brunch on Sunday. I have video of the dress rehearsal for the ballet recital; we weren’t allowed to video the actual recital. Elise is pretty washed out from the bright lights, but she is the second one from the right. I was also fairly proud of finally getting Elise’s hair in a good bun. I’m glad I hopefully only have to do that once year; fixing hair is not my forte. If you’ve ever noticed, we are lucky if we actually get Elise’s hair brushed never mind convincing her to let me fix ponytails. Anyway, I digress. Here is some documentation of our Father’s Day weekend.

Maggie is One Month

Maggie is actually 5 weeks according to the weekly email updates I get, but we went for her one month check up today. Maggie is really growing. Her height is 22 & 1/4 inches and her weight is 10.8 pounds; those numbers put her in the 90th percentile. So even though Maggie will be bigger than Elise, Elise is very protective. She does not want Maggie to get anymore shots because she does not want her to get hurt. 🙂 They are sweet to each other, and I have the pictures and video to prove it.

Happy Birthday Elise!

Elise turned three on Saturday, June 11. She had a busy day, but it was a lot of fun. Here are a few pictures and video of her special day.

Mother’s Day

On Friday, Elise came home with a present for me that she made at school. It started out as, “Mom, I got a present for you,” but quickly evolved into, “Can we open it?…I want to play with it…I want my present…I want my book, pen, and bracelet.” Well, what can you expect from an almost 3 year old. 🙂 We had a nice weekend though it was our last weekend with just Elise. Big changes are on the way in just a few days – crazy.

Nearing the End

So, Monday Elise predicted that Maggie would be born today, Wednesday, but no such luck. Elise did correctly predict that we were pregnant and having a girl, so she’s 2 for 3. She even woke up today and said, “The baby is coming out today;” somehow she was so sure. Though Maggie did not come today, there is an end in site. Scott and I will go to the hospital at 8 pm on Tuesday, May 10 and the induction will start Wednesday, May 11 at 8 am; therefore, Maggie will have no choice but to come May 11. Unless, I am one of those people who takes forever, and she doesn’t come until May 12 – sigh – lovely. Either way almost done. Here is a final photo of me at 39 weeks and video of Elise talking to Maggie. Much of what Elise says is just silly talk but at the very beginning she is talking to Maggie telling her to come out, and if you stick it out to the end, you see her fall off the couch – good times. Enjoy!

Elise hamming it up. Elise giving the thumbs up.

Tutus aren’t Just for Ballet

Elise loves to wear tutus and sparkly things and thinks they are appropriate for just about any activity, so here is video of her playing with dad and practicing her dance for her dance recital in June. You can see why Scott hopes Maggie has a little tomboy in her to dial down the girly sparkliness. 🙂
