Open House

I missed Elise’s Open House. The first open house was the same day as my school’s open house, but the snow (in March) canceled both of those. Then I had to miss the rescheduled one because I was taking a class to study for the ESL Certification test – got to be certified by August and I won’t have time this summer; I’ll have a newborn!

Anyway, Elise brought home her school journal. I always love reading what she writes. Here are two of my favorite entries:

In February, my oldest brother and his family came up from Austin, and we all visited the fire station where one of my younger brothers is a fire fighter. You just need to know that “yucky bandaids” were electrodes from the ambulance that a paramedic put on the girls. 🙂

Tet, Vietnamese New Year, was also in February. I don’t get a lot of the customs and traditions right, but I got the day and the tradition of the giving gifts in the red envelope right. I was pleased to read that Elise loved it, and she remembered how to write “Happy New Year” in Vietnamese, “Chuc Mung Nam Moi.”
