Welcome Maggie Lynn McClellan!

On Wednesday, May 11 at 3:28 pm Maggie Lynn McClellan was born. She weighed 7 lbs. 4.5 oz and was 19 and 1/4 inches long. For those who want a few details: My induction started at 7:45 am, and I was 10 cm around 12:30pm, but little Maggie was turned a little sideways. (I don’t remember the medical terms to describe Maggie’s position, but if she didn’t move she wasn’t going to come out.) We had to wait a couple hours and try different positions to see if she would turn. Eventually when I started pushing around 2:15 pm, she turned and was born by 3:28 pm. Overall, a pretty swift experience. These are pictures of our first hours at the hospital. Maggie is home now and doing great, but I’ll save those pictures and more from the hospital for another post.

WARNING: You will see my shoulder. 🙂

A letter written the night before:

Dear Maggie, I’m ready. Maggie I have experienced my body changing as you grow. I have felt your punches, kicks, and jabs. Now, I am ready to know you: your sweet little eyes, nose, lips, ears, fingers, toes, your cries and tears. Will you have black hair like my infant picture? Who will you take after? a grandparent? an uncle? an aunt? Soon we will find out. And everybody is waiting and wanting to meet you especially your big sister Elise. Elise is ready to play and to help and to love. You two are our precious, sweet girls, and I’m glad the time has come for you to join us. We love you Maggie.
